Sparkling Sunday - It's my birthday

No big party, no extravagant gifts and no birthday cake.  OMG am I getting old.  Wait a minute as my BFF Percy says "you are not getting old, YOU ARE OLD".  That's what friends are for, they tell you the truth and guess what, "I can handle the truth."  So today is just another Sunday but although there is no big celebration, somehow my friends manage to do a get together to celebrate it.  My friends just bought a big boat and we got on it for it's first boat tour. Afterwards we had a BBQ at their deck overlooking Discovery Bay.  I almost forgot to mention that Jean already gave me the birthday gift a month ago.  Jeff manage to get me a couple of things while were in Vernon, BC Canada and I love it because it was practical.  I am very thankful to be at my age still feeling young and able to do a lot of things, like play golf, tennis, bowling and even go out dancing.  Although my knee is only good for a couple of songs.  It has been almost seven years since I retired and I am so glad of that decision.  Being retired in California was a wonderful experience but life brings changes and we are very excited with the coming change.  Keep following my blog to read about our next adventure.

Travel Thursday - By Air, Land or Sea

Just in case you are wondering why I have not posted anything since last week, here's my story and I am sticking to it.  Between flying to Arizona to pick an RV, then driving it all the way to Texas and back to California, time just flew by and soon we were packing again our bags to leave for Canada.  The only travel we didn't do is by sea.  Although we might do a little of that soon as our friends just got their new boat.  Last week we were in Vernon, BC
to look for properties and reconnect with my friend Dot.  After nine years since we last saw each other, there were too many stories to share that we would stay up late each night to get caught up with our lives.  The Okanagan Valley is such a pretty place and I took some photos to share.

Foodie Friday - It's all about presentation

Just thought of posting a variety of food photos from our RV trip and the day to day meals.  Of course some are coming from our kitchen and the rest are from restaurants.  As you can see, sometimes, it's all about presentation but then sometimes, looks are very deceiving.  You can be the judge.

Signs Saturday - Welcome signs

When the road seems like it has no ending, that's when you start taking boring photos of everything.  While traveling on our new RV, I found myself doing a lot of different things so I don't get too bored during those long drives.  Although Jeff does not drive for hours and hours without stop, it still feels like a long time to go from point A to B.  During that week we were in four different States.  Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas.  I'm sure everybody knows Texas is the biggest state.  It seemed forever when we cross the State Line.  I keep asking Jeff "are we still in Texas?".  As much as I like to take great pictures, it was very difficult to take a good one when the RV is on the highway plus the high winds that causes the vehicle to swing side to side.  Anyway, here's three welcome sign that I was able to take and if you zoom on it, you probably would read where we have been.

This one is more of a real welcome sign to the state of New Mexico.

It's too bad that this sign wasn't designed with a bit more creativity/

Thor Thursday - Meet the new addition

Don't get too excited, it's not the same as having a new addition to the family.  It's more like a new
addition to the collection of vehicle that Jeff has.  He finally got the RV that he wanted and we had to go all the way to Phoenix, AZ to get it.  Last week we flew to Phoenix and we were picked up by Hunter, the sales person that Jeff has been dealing with.  Prior to arriving to their site, we pass by Walmart to get some of the important supplies for a first time RV owners.  Since we only had our carry on luggage, we had to but all the hoses, special toilet paper, bedding, and others I can't remember.  Hunter decided to stop for lunch at a special BBQ place that he recommended.  It was his treat and that was nice.  We got to their office and Jeff sat down with their finance manager to get all the paper work started.  They offered for us to stay in our new RV on their site and gave us a car to use for the evening to go for dinner or do more shopping.  We had dinner at a Casino and had their special for the night - Seafood boil.  For the next few days, I will be posting our journey from Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and back to California.  Of course I will include photos of scenes from the trip as well as meals we shared with friends, meals I prepared in our RV kitchen and other meals.

The great view from the passenger seat on our new THOR is awesome.

Wondering Wednesday - How is this possible?

As you may recall a few months ago, I shared a photo of the first bloom of my orchid plant.  It is amazing how this plant that I received as a birthday gift two years ago, is still producing flowers.  This is the third season and I should have a total of six orchid flowers.  I cannot take all the credit for this because all I do is talk to the plant, admire it and encourage it to bloom.  Jeff in the meantime is very religious about watering them on the same day of the week and a specific time of the day.  We have not move this plant from the original spot that my friend Pam, told me to place it.  Anyway my sister is still wondering how I have not killed this plant but instead have taken care of it that it produces beautiful orchids.  It is a miracle plant and it brings so much joy each day I look at them.

As you can see there's two more waiting to bloom.
